This weekend, Charles Henderson High School senior Noah Greene announced his commitment to play college football at Tuskegee University.
Greene is a 6-foot-3-inch, 220-pound tight end that earned All-Messenger honors this past season after catching 15 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown, leading Charles Henderson’s passing game.
Greene initially committed to play college football at North Alabama but a coaching change led to his scholarship offer being rescinded, reopening his recruitment process.
“Tuskegee was my very first offer I got when I came off my ACL tear after my sophomore season,” Greene said. “They showed that love and the coaches showed me love through it all. I went up there on my official visit and I loved the atmosphere. The coaches treat you well and care about you and make sure you succeed. That’s what I need in my surroundings if I’m going to succeed at the next level.”
Greene originally held scholarship offers from Alabama State, North Alabama and Tuskegee but after committing to North Alabama originally, some of those other offers were no longer there. Once the changes at North Alabama occurred, Greene said the Tuskegee coaches showed their faith in him.
“Their offer wasn’t a full ride for me at first but once I made my official visit they talked with me and everything and offered a full ride,” Greene said of Tuskegee. “That made me commit right there because they showed that trust and investment in me and I really wanted to play for them knowing that.”
Greene’s stepfather, Trey Page, played college football at Troy and is currently a defensive analyst with the Trojans. Greene said that Page was someone he was able to lean on during the ups and downs of the recruiting process.
“He knows a lot about recruiting and the transfer portal and everything, so he was someone I was able to talk with about all of that stuff,” Greene said of Page. “Where you play at in college is also a family decision and he’s happy for me and proud because all he wanted for me was to be able to go somewhere and play and have my school paid for. He helped me a lot during the process and when North (Alabama) took my scholarship away he was there for me and made sure I stayed up and kept going and working hard.”
Greene, who has already graduated from CHHS, will join Tuskegee during the summer session. He said he plans to make sure the Tuskegee coaches never regret offering him a scholarship.
“I want to go up there and make a name for myself but I also want to show the coaches they didn’t make a mistake,” he continued. “I don’t ever want them to regret giving me a full ride. I want to show them I can be a big part of the team and I want to ball out for them and make everyone proud.”
Greene will hold his scholarship signing at Charles Henderson High School on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
