Bill Rice Sr. is known as supervisor of Troy’s recycling program, but he is now looking for a vandal.

This week, two of the Recycling Center’s collection trailers were vandalized.

On Tuesday, employees discovered a slashed tire on the trailer located at the Holiday Inn. That, Rice thought, was a fluke.

But, on Thursday, a gaping hole in one of the tires on the Parklane Shopping Center trailer was discovered and Rice became concerned.

He filed an "criminal mischief" incident report with the Troy Police Department.

Rice, not only wants to find the perpetrators, but wants to stop such criminal activity.

"Hopefully, it is a coincidence," Rice said of the two incidents of criminal mischief. "If not, we’ll catch them if I have to work at night."

Rice said the individual or individuals responsible are doing nothing but using up taxpayers dollars.

"The stupid thing is they’re wasting their own tax dollars," Rice said.

He pointed out the tire slashed on the Parklane Shopping Center trailer was new and, now, another new tire has to be put on it.

The 103 recycling trailers are located all over Troy for convenience of merchants who recycle boxes. When they are filled, employees hook the trailers to a truck and haul the cardboard boxes to the Recycling Center.
