After a great week of high school baseball, the major leaguers didn’t disappoint either.

I was fortunate to see a good Charles Henderson squad battle tooth-and-nail with top-ranked Russell County, falling in two very competitive games.

Pike Liberal Arts is moving on to the AISA state championship series after knocking over their bitter rival Glenwood on Wednesday in possibly the two biggest wins in Patriot history.

Then on the same night, the Los Angeles Angles’ Jered Weaver tossed the second no-hitter of the Major League season against the Minnesota Twins.

It doesn’t matter how much baseball you watch, the sport never gets old. At any level, an entertaining game can be found and often enough, you’ll see something unique.

Troy assistant coach Mark Smartt was in attendance for the Pike-Glenwood series.

I love football just as much as the next guy but there is just something about baseball season that draws you to root for the sport itself and not just a team.

Good baseball, no matter the opponents is as entertaining as it gets.
