The White Sox dodged a bullet Saturday ending a late rally by the Pirates just in time.

The Pirates had eleven hits during the game, but the White Sox were able to overcome and escape with a close 7-6 win Saturday.

Down 7-3, the Pirates rallied in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three runs to pull within one, but with two outs and the tying run on third base, the White Sox were able to record the final out of the game.

J.Ricks and Q. Thomas both had singles for the White Sox, while Chase Rogers had both and single and a double. Patrick Green had a double and Marquez Tony had a double RBI.

For the Pirates Hawkins Drinkard had a single with 2 RBIs and Chase Bradley had an RBI triple. Josh Dykes and Josh Crowe both had single RBIs and Chris Davis, Tanner Hensley, John Gillis, and Jake DuBose all had hits as well.

Cardinals 13, Red Sox 5

Jim Wallace picked up the win on the mound for the Cardinals, as he and fellow pitcher Andrew Powell combined for a four hit, 10 strike out game against the Red Sox Friday.

After falling behind 5-1, the Red Sox scored four runs in the third inning to tie the game. But the Cardinals scored eight runs combined in the fourth and fifth inning to pull away and take the victory.

The Cardinals had 13 hits against the Red Sox, with Wallace going 3-4 from the plate followed by Chad Jordan and Powell, who both had two hits apiece.

Ryan Long, Landon Long, Sam Sellers, and Courtney Jackson all had hits for the Red Sox.

White Sox 8, Reds 4

The Reds held a slim 2-1 lead in the first two innings of the game Friday, but the White Sox exploded to score five runs in the third and take the victory.

Judson Ricks had three hits to lead the White Sox while Chase Rogers, Devon Miller, and Blake Sanders all had two hits apiece.

John Campbell was the winning pitcher.

Cardinals 12, Reds 2

The Cardinals defeated the Reds by the score of 12-2 in Dixie Youth action Saturday.

Cardinal pitcher Chad Jordan gave up just three hits, while striking out eight. He also went 2-for-3 from the plate with a three-run homer in the fourth inning.

Zack Ethridge and Jerad Lofton also had two hits in three at bats for the Cardinals. Percy Lee, Jim Wallace, Andrew Powell, and Chris Ward all had hits for the Cardinals, as well.

The Reds Tony Gillo went a perfect 2-for-2 from the batter’s box and Foster Styron also had a hit.

PONYTAIL

Chicks 5, Jammers 3

Whitney Merritt pitched all six innings to help the Chicks defeat the Jammers 5-3 in Ponytail league action Thursday.

Merritt recorded 11 strike outs during the game and also had a single as the Chicks scored five runs in the fourth inning alone to overcome a 3-0 deficit.

The win gives the Chicks sole possession of first place in the Ponytail league.

In a losing effort, the Jammers Whitney Johnson struck out nine Chick batters in just three innings. She also hit two singles in the game.

DIXIE BOYS

Indians 9, Mets 8

The Indians edged the Mets 9-8 in Dixie Boys action Friday.

Chase Clower went the distance for the Indians, striking out 11 batters and giving up just three hits.

The Mets were leading 3-2 in the first inning, but in the second the Indians scored six runs to take the lead for good.

Liston Conrad, Quavin, and Brandon Johnson all had two hits apiece for the Indians, while Kevin Hester and Clower finshed with singles.

For the Mets, Blake Phelps, Herbert Ward, and David Folmar all had hits.

Cardinals 12, Mariners 7

The Cardinals maintained their hold on first place in Dixie Boys with a 12-7 victory over the Mariners Saturday to improve to 5-1 on the year.

Pete Van Horn had two hits, including a home run, with two RBIs and Matt Johnson went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs for the Cardinals. Daniel Hussy had two hits and an RBI. Josh Rogers, A.J. Ward and Sanders also had hits.

Johnson was the winning pitcher for the Cardinals, striking out 12 batters and giving up just five hits.

For the Mariners, Fernando White had two hits and Brian Matney, Judd Gardner, and Micha Brown had singles.

DIXIE MINOR

Dodgers 7, Padres 1

The Dodgers were down 1-0 to the Padres, before scoring four runs in the third inning to take the 7-1 win Saturday.

William Teal entered the game in the second inning and faced 16 Padre batters, striking out 12, to earn the victory.

Teal, Nathan Hussey, Jeremy McGuire, and Zack Herring all had hits for the Dodgers.

Russell Osborne and Cody Barron had hits for the Padres.

With the win the Dodgers improves 4-2 on the year, in second place behind the Mariners.
