Glenn Melbourne Golden Sr.

Glenn Melbourne Golden, Sr. of Enterprise, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the family residence.  He was 81.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday, May 16, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Duhaime and Dr. Michael Mynatt officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the church beginning at noon and will continue until service time.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 500 Alberta Ave., Enterprise, AL 36330.

Mr. Golden was born September 29, 1930 in Pennsylvania to the late Rodd T. and Mary Record Golden.  He was retired from the United States Army following 20 years of service and from Charles Henderson High School in Troy, after teaching ROTC for 24 years.  He was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he spent many hours working on various activities for the Lord.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ollie Golden, Enterprise; two daughters, Lisa Smith (Demetrius, Sr.) and Sue Ann Hallinger (Curt), all of Clayton, NC; two sons, Glenn Golden, Jr. (Renee), Montgomery, and David Golden, Carrolton, GA; and six grandchildren, Katherine Golden, Kyle Golden, Zach Golden, DeAndre Smith, Demetrius Smith, Jr., Emma Hallinger, Anton Hallinger, and Ava Hallinger.
