Golf enthusiasts will soon have the opportunity show off their skills at the Pike County Chamber of Commerce Business and Industry Appreciation Golf Tournament.

The shotgun start is a 2 p.m. on April 3 at the Troy Country Club golf course.

"People who participate in the tournament will get to network with other people from the businesses and industries in Pike County," said Holly Stoltze, membership director for the Pike County Chamber of Commerce. "They will be able to make new business contacts through the tournament that will last a long time."

Prizes will be awarded in several categories to give people an incentive to participate in the golf tournament and give it their best shot.

Stoltze said hole-in-one will be sponsored by Ken Cox Ford. Other prizes include $300 awarded for the first place winner, and $200 for the second place winner. Prizes will also be given for the longest drive for males and female participants, and closest to the pin for male and female.

After the golf tournament a social hour will be held at the Troy Country Club complete with door prizes donated by area merchants, Stoltze said.

"The tournament will be a lot of fun," said Stoltze. "People who usually only have an opportunity to deal with people on a business or professional level will have a chance to have contact with them in a relaxed, social atmosphere with a little friendly competition among business people."

There are 80 spots available in the tournament to make up 20 teams. Registration is going on now and the fee is $50 per person, which includes green fees and cart fees. If you have any question or want to register for the tournament, call the Pike County Chamber of Commerce office at 566-2294 and have your handicap ready. Teams will be assigned according to handicaps.

The deadline for registration has been extended until Thursday, March 30. Stoltze said forms have to be turned in by that day and fees can be sent in with the form.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.
