Florence Foreman

Florence Miriam (Myra) Curtis Foreman, age 81 of Leeds passed away May 19, 2012.

She was born in Glenwood on November 29, 1930 to Alvin Rix and Florence Comella Willis Curtis.  She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Willis Curtis, Roy Curtis, and Gerald Curtis.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was a graduate of Troy State University and taught first grade at Ariton Elementary School in Dale County and Leeds Elementary School.  She was a member at First Baptist Church Leeds where she taught Young Adult Sunday School for many years.  She was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed cooking, painting, planting and arranging flowers and making crafts of various kinds.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Reverend A. Ray Foreman; daughter, Angelia Filmore (and husband Bill) of Daleville; son, Auburn Ray Jr. of Birmingham; grandsons, William and Ray Filmore of Daleville, Sister-in-law Alice Curtis of Glenwood, as well as Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Roy and Grace Foreman of Andalusia.  Numerous Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Monday, May 21, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Leeds. The family will receive friends from noon until the service time. Burial will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Providence Cemetery in Glenwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Coins of Compassion at First Baptist Church of Leeds or to a favorite charity.
