meeting at Julia’s Monday
Staff Report
Gov. Don Siegelman will be making a Monday morning stop in Troy.
This past Wednesday, Siegelman began a series of town meetings across Alabama and that Listening Post Tour will include a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. at Julia’s Restaurant here in Troy.
During the visits, Siegelman will address a variety of issues, including his defense of the bill which would require students to say "ma’am" and "sir" in the classroom.
Although the bill has been called pointless by some teachers, principals and parents, the governor has said he will continue to push for the legislation because it "instills old-fashioned Alabama values."
Siegelman, whose courtesy bill has not yet been acted upon by the Alabama Legislature, is also expected to address raising pay for teachers and reducing crime.
The governor’s tour had a total of 14 meetings scheduled to take place each Monday and Wednesday through Apr.12.
