A district judge refused Tuesday to reduce the bond for a woman charged in connection with a violent home invasion in Troy.

Deanna McLeod, 20, of Troy, is charged with one count of first-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of attempted murder and one count of murder in connection the a home invasion that took place in March. Parrish Bean, also 20 and of Troy, has been charged with the same counts but has not asked for an additional bond reduction. The pair are being held on $420,000 bonds.

Police believe the pair were accomplices in a home invasion that left a young Troy couple with stab wounds and knife injuries requiring surgery and the man who kicked in their front door wielding a shotgun dead.

At a preliminary hearing on March 27, police testified that Bean and McLeod both told officers that they knew Thomas White (the deceased suspect) had a gun and knew he was going to “hit a lick (commit robbery).” They also said they drove White to an intersection near the crime scene and then waited nearby to retrieve him.

According to police, White kicked in the front door of the home on Martha George Hall Drive about 1:06 a.m. on March 5. Police said phone records show a call was made from McLeod’s phone to White’s phone at 1:38 a.m.

Bean and McLeod told police that White chose the victims’ neighborhood “because they had big houses.”

Judge William Hightower listened to both McLeod’s attorney and an assistant district attorney before making his decision not to reduce McLeod’s bond any further.

At the preliminary hearing on March 27, attorneys for Bean and McLeod asked Hightower for bond reductions and possible releases because the suspects did not have the means to pay their bonds which were set at a total of $600,000 each – $100,000 for each charge.

Family members for both stood at that time and acknowledged they’d house and watch the suspects, if released, and one man offered to give Bean a job, his lawyer said.

Hightower did reduce the bonds at that time to $70,000 for each charge.

Both McLeod and Bean are scheduled to appear before a Grand Jury on July 31.
