Charles Henderson has strong showing at passing camp

Charles Henderson finished 5-5 in the Nick Saban 7-on-7 Classic over the weekend.

The Class 4A Trojans started pool play 4-0 including a victory over Class 6A Stanhope Elmore. Charles Henderson led in all of its final three matches but would eventually fall. The losses came to powers like Duluth (Ga.), Foley (Fla.) and Cass Tech, who were state champions in Michigan.

“I though we did well overall,” Charles Henderson head coach Mike Dean said.

“We did a lot of things good and a few things bad. Out biggest challenge right now is facing adversity. We have to learn how to win and lose as a team.”

The Trojans were seeded 11th coming out of pool play where they faced Jackson County and won. Charles Henderson’s would be defeated by Spanish Fort and Pleasant Grove to be ousted from tournament play.

Charles Henderson will participate in the Total Defensive Performance Camp on Friday in Birmingham. The camp is run by South Alabama defensive coordinator Bill Clark.
