Services for Mavis Wheeler will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Sweet Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Brundidge, Alabama, with Rev. Harvey Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at the Lilly Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy, Alabama.
Mavis Wheeler began her earthly life journey on November 22, 1944, as she was born the fifth child to the loving parents of B. W. Wheeler and Lessie Mae Fenn-Wheeler.
Mavis lived a full and blessed life. She joined the Sweet Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church at an early age; and, she was a woman of great faith and courage. Mavis was genuine in her actions of caring, loving and sharing with family, friends and others.
After long-suffering with various health issues, on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, Mavis quietly transitioned from this earthly gift of life to her ultimate celestial journey of eternal life at the Advocate Christ Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Wheeler, and five sisters, Claudine, MaeRine, Arleatha (Sweetie), Annie B. and Patricia (Trish/Tricia).
Mavis was educated in the Pike County School System, where she graduated with the Hillcrest High School, Senior Class of 1964. Afterwards, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she lived until her life expired.
Occupationally, Mavis worked diligently for many years in the manufacture industry. In 1999, she retired from the Clorox Manufacturing Company.
By God’s grace, the physical connection to Mavis has been disconnected, but her memory and spirit will forever more be embraced and cherished by her siblings: Jessie B. Barrow, Troy, AL; Charlie B. Wheeler, Brundidge, AL; Rosetta Wheeler, Chicago, IL; Billie Mack (Gloria) Wheeler, Colorado Springs, CO, Christine and Maxine Wheeler, Brundidge, AL; one uncle: Bonnie (Mary Emma) Fenn; two aunts: Lois Foster and Mildred (James)
Amos, Enterprise, AL; one God-daughter/niece, Dorothy Jean Newby, Troy, AL; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and associates.
