Troy’s “O”Zone District tournament team moved one step closer to their goal of a championship as they defeated the Enterprise American team 10-4 on Monday.

The win marks the second time that Troy has scored 10 or more runs in a game.

“Foot on the gas,” head coach Derek Wilkes said.

“We hit the ball extremely well and we pitched extremely well.”

Four out of Troy’s first seven batters were able to hit singles in the first inning that kept Enterprise on their toes until Cole Little hit a bomb to give Troy a slight advantage.

Enterprise would eventually get their first run in the second inning, but Troy was quick to respond.

Hunter Reeves was able to steal home in the 3rd inning to put the score at 8-3.

The two teams would remain level until Reeves knocked his own two-run homerun out of the park to bring the score to 10-3 in the fourth.

Enterprise would add on a consolation run in the sixth, but that’s as close as they got.

Reeves finished with three RBI’s on the night to go with his homer, while Little finished with two of his own.

Wood Jinright, Graham Wilkes and Juhmir Lampley also added an RBI to the Troy stat sheet.

Wilkes is confident that this performance is just the boost his team needs to make that extra boost that will help propel them into the finals.

“We feel good,” Wilkes said.

“We feel real good. I think I like our chances.”

Troy takes on Geneva Tuesday night at 8 pm, with a berth in the finals on the line.

Enterprise Nationals 16, Hartford 0 

Enterprise rolled through Hartford in three innings, not allowing a single runner on base. For Enterprise, Will Baker had a homerun, while Coston Couch had two RBI’s. John Sams, Michael Delaney and Griffin Hunter Peacock each had RBI’s as well. Enterprise struck out five.

Geneva 6, Eufaula 5

Geneva was able to hold off Eufaula as they advanced to take on Troy in a tight one. Both teams performed well on the mound, with Eufaula having nine strikeouts and Geneva having ten. For Geneva, Christian Beasely, Will Cobb, Drew Benefield and Kyler Wells each had RBI’s. For Eufaula, James Williams had a phenomenal day on the plate as he drove in a homerun and three RBI’s
