Elizabeth Watson

Elizabeth J. Watson, 86, of Troy, AL and formerly of Cherry St., Morgantown, WV passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 at Troy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Troy, AL.
Elizabeth was born in Morgantown on November 17, 1922, a daughter of the late C.R. Grimes and the late Eliza Elizabeth (Riddle) Grimes.
Survivors include five children, Judy Hollen and husband Jack, Pat Hopson and husband Ed, Charles Watson and wife Lila, Roger Watson and wife Nelda, and Mary Beth Welch and husband Mark; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Watson, three sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Watson was an avid craft person and spent countless hours crocheting beautiful doll clothes and accessories. Her attention to detail and love for her craft is reflected in the countless dolls she made over the years.
She was a faithful member of her church and was a volunteer for many years at the Troy Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Troy Senior Center for many years and a member of RSVP. She loved gospel singing and participated in visits to the nursing home, hospital and shut-ins. She ministered to many sick and dying friends prior to her own illness, and spread faith and prayer to all she met.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Thursday, May 21 from 1 PM until the time of the funeral service 2:00 PM with Rev James Mohrman officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Union Cemetery.
