Funeral services for Emma R. Ginyard will be held on
Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at New Shiloh
Missionary Baptist Church, 717 Park Street, Troy, Alabama,
with Pastor Rev. J. N. Flowers officiating and George F.
Grubbs Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday,
December 12, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at George F.
Grubbs Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral service
at the Carroll Street Cemetery, Troy, Alabama.
Emma R. Ginyard was born the sixth child of the late
Fred Smiley and the late Beatrice Reynolds on May 6, 1956.
She was a 1974 graduate of Charles Henderson High
School. She later attended Trenholm Technical College for
two years and then began working with the City of Troy
Utilities Department where she retired after thirty years of
service. After retirement, she went to work with Judicial
Correction Services as a probation officer.
She received Christ under the leadership of Rev. G. H.
Smith at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Smiley
and Beatrice Reynolds, and one sister, Doris Marie Lightfoot.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted husband,
Doug Ginyard; one son, Phillip (Beth) Wright; two daughters,
Jessica Ginyard and Stella Ginyard; five sisters, Annie (Jimmy)
Reynolds of Troy, Dorothy Flourney, Margene Reynolds of
Hackensack, New Jersey, Gwen (Vaughn) Daniels of Troy, and
Susan Lawson of Troy; four brothers, Eddie (Peggy) Reynolds
of Troy, Willie Reynolds of New Jersey, Jerry Lawson of Troy,
and Nathaniel Lawson of Troy; a father-in-law, James Ginyard
of Troy; three sisters-in-law, Ann Tanner, Cathy Ginyard, and
Cynthia (James) Thomas; four brothers- in- law, Clevester
(Vivian) White, James Ginyard, Jr., Willie Arthur (Aeshia)
Ginyard, and Willie Ray Ginyard; one grandchild, Jamaal
Benz Wright of Troy; and a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and devoted friends.
