Clifton Boutwell

Clifton Leo Boutwell, 83 of Phenix City, passed away Dec. 9, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. EST Friday at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City with the Rev. Roosevelt Oakes officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Boutwell was born Oct. 26, 1925, in Coffee County, the son of the late Samuel Clifton Boutwell and Willie B. Sanders Boutwell. He was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Gabriel Lamar Wynn.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Knotts Boutwell; one daughter, Gail Boutwell Wynn and son-in-law, Fred Lamar Wynn, Jr.; two sisters, Hazel Paul and Verlon Pilkinton; two brothers, Glenn Boutwell and Roscoe Boutwell; two grandchildren, Lance Lee, Sommer Jones, and husband Corey; two great grandchildren, Payton Singletary and Carter Singletary; several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the staff of Columbus Hospice and my Uncles, Glenn Boutwell and Curtis Knotts, for all their help. And thank you to a special friend, Kim Mikashus, who took very good care of him.
The pallbearers will be Mr. Boutwell’s nephews, Rufus Boutwell, Mike Boutwell, Arthur Boutwell, Wiley Boutwell, Scott Knotts and Michael Knotts.
