With the start of the 2010 Troy University football season just two days away, there are many things for fans to consider prior to the game.

Who will start at quarterback for the Trojans? How will the mostly retooled defense play?

And, where will fans tailgate prior to the game?

Fortunately for Troy fans, while quarterback questions and defensive concerns will go unanswered until Saturday, tailgating will provide a sense of familiarity.

The policies and procedures for tailgating prior to home games will be mostly the same as they have been for the past several years.

There had been some concern in the community that changes to tailgate terrace would change tailgating at Troy, but that does not appear to be the case.

The only difference regarding Tailgate Terrace will be that vehicles will no longer be allowed on the recently renovated property.

Rather, it is now limited to pedestrian traffic only, and those who have tents on Tailgate Terrace will be issued one parking pass to the Pace Hall parking Lot adjacent to Luther Drive.

Grills and generators will be allowed, but electricity and cable is not provided by the university, nor has it ever in the past.

Every tailgate terrace tent will be provided with two tables, 10 chairs and two trash cans.

One change to parking procedure is that those in need of handicapped accessible parking will now park on the North Stadium Lot adjacent to the football practice fields. In the past, handicapped parking had been accessible on the Armory property across the street from Veterans Memorial Stadium, but it will not be this season.

RV parking will once again be in Sartain Hall’s parking lot, but no RVs will be allowed to park on Collegedale or University Avenues, and any RV hookups that existed previously have been removed.

Finally, the kid zone will make its return to the outfield of Riddle-Pace Field, and will be available prior to kickoff.

Troy kicks off the 2010 season against Bowling Green Saturday at 6 p.m.
