For the third consecutive match, the Charles Henderson volleyball team was denied a victory.

After suffering a tough loss on its home court Monday afternoon to the Highland Home High School, the Trojans played host to region foe Russell County.

However, the Warriors would sweep right past the home team, not allowing the Trojans to score 20 points in any of the three games, as RCHS won 25-13, 25-16 and 25-11.

“Russell County was a good ball team,” head coach Jennifer Sikes said after the match.

“I don’t want to take anything away from them and what they did.

“But we had some things that just didn’t go our way. I am not going to blame it on any one.”

The loss drops the Trojans to 2-3 on the season.

Senior Lauren Debruyne finished with three kills and two blocks while sophomore Becca Hartley finished with three kills.

Despite the recent struggle, Sikes said she believes the team may be on the verge of turning things around.

“I really think they are going to be a better team because of theses losses,” the coach said.

“They are played as a team (Tuesday night). They didn’t get down on themselves and they knew when they had to make adjustments during the games.

“They just didn’t have the opportunity to do any of that,” Sikes added.

On Thursday, CHHS will end its four game home stand against Pike County foe, Goshen.

In that game, the Trojans will be looking for their first win on home court this season.

In the match before the varsity showdown, the CHHS JV team took out the RCHS team in two games, 25-21 and 25-12.

Victoria Outlaw finished with five kills and Allison Ellis finished with five aces.

Like the varsity squad, JV will to be in action against the Eagles, starting things off at 4 p.m.
