Troy residents will soon have the opportunity to help beautify the local schools when the City of Troy sponsors its 2010 Clean Campus Day August 28.
The event is part of the city’s anti-litter campaign, and will be taking places on the campuses of Troy Elementary School, Charles Henderson Middle School, Charles Henderson High School and Troy University.
Event coordinator Meredith McLendon said the event is part of an attempt to get children involved with the anti-litter campaign.
“This is just something we’re trying to get our schools involved with,” McLendon said. “We’ve been involved with the anti-litter campaign the mayor has been advocating for several years, and now we just want to get our kids involved with it as well.”
The city has partnered with People Against Littered States (PALS) in the past for previous cleanups, and will do once again for this cleanup effort.
As such, PALS will the materials needed for the cleanup.
2010 Clean Campus Day marks the first time the event has been held, and it will be held August 28 from 9 a.m. until noon.
Students are to meet at their school’s campus and will have leaders from each school for supervision, while adults and university students will meet at the Troy University track beside the Trojan Center.
