Ten Troy men, six Troy women, a Brundidge man and an Elba man were all arrested Sunday night on alcohol-related charges.

The arrests occurred at 1125B N. 3 Notch Street, where the suspects had established what ABC enforcement agent Sgt. Scotty Ballard called the “Obama Club.”

“They had signs everywhere inside and outside that had ‘Obama Club’ written on them,” Ballard said.

The arrests occurred as part of a bust arranged by the Troy Police Department and the Alabama ABC Board.

An undercover ABC agent entered the residence around 10 p.m., and arrests were made at around 10:10 p.m.

At that time, 17 people were arrested on charges of possession and consumption of alcohol in a public place on Sunday, as well as one arrest for minor in possession and consumption of alcohol.

Another person was arrested on charges possession of alcohol for sale without a license.

Cecil Carlisle, 51, Davrell Carlton, 23, Erica Fuller, 28, Todd Galimore, 35, Derrill Johnson, 43, Herman Livingston, 48, Roosevelt Maddox, 42, Teresa Maddox, 31, Charlene McKinney, 44, Maria Mensy, 38, Teresa Robinson, 36, Georgia Thomas, 45, Tekevin Williams, 24, Tyrone Woods, 37 and Demon Carter, 20, all of Troy, were arrested on the possession and consumption of alcohol in a public place on Sunday charges.

Carter was also the suspect arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Curtis Davis, 25, of Brundidge and Larry Wilson, 39, of Elba were also arrested on a charge of possession and consumption of alcohol in a public place on Sunday charges.

Charles Williams, 68, of Troy, was arrested on the charge of possession of alcohol for sale without a license.

According to Ballard, the operation had been two to three months in the working.

“Basically, the ABC agent who works in Pike County received a complaint a while back of someone selling without a license,” Ballard said.

“So, the ABC Board and the Troy Police Department spent two to three months working on this, gathering information. There was an undercover agent who was sent in, and executed a controlled purchase of alcohol. Once that occurred, the agent was able to follow through on answering the complaint.”

Ballard said the Troy Police Department’s assistance was essential to the operation’s success, and the two agencies will work together to try and prevent future alcohol-related violations.

“This has been an ongoing problem for quite some time, but Chief Anthony Everage has been great at assisting us, and we’ve been trying to assist them as well,” Ballard said.

All the suspects were placed in the Troy City Jail and as of Monday night all made bond.
