A 19-year-old was arrested Monday after he is said to have shot into a vehicle occupied by at least two children.
The shooting was reported to have taken place around 9:15 p.m. on July 4 at a residence in the 400 block of Aster Circle, grazing the elbow of a 23-year-old victim, said Troy Police spokesman Sgt. Benny Scarbrough.
JaMarion Edwards, 19, was arrested Monday and faces charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle for this incident.
Scarbrough said the shooting allegedly took place between 8:45 and 9:15 p.m. July 4 when an altercation took place between the victim and others in the neighborhood.
The victim reported she and her two children got into the vehicle, and then Edwards fired several shots into it.
She went to the Troy Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
The Pike County Department of Human Resources was notified because there were children in the car.
Edwards bond has been set at $50,000. Discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle is a Class B felony, and according to the Alabama Criminal Code of Law is punishable between two to 20 years in prison.
