Charles Garland Bennett, Sr., age 82 of Troy, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at his home in Troy, Alabama. Funeral services will be Friday, July 27, 2012 at Old Lebanon Church with Rev. David McVay and Rev. Larry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Lebanon Church Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to service from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church.

Mr. Bennett worked with Chevron Chemical Company for 28 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, he served active duty in the U.S. Army as a captain and retired from the Army and the National Guard after 20 years. He received a Masters Degree from Auburn University.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Molly Bennett; his sister, Glenda Wiggins. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat Bennett; sons, David Bennett (Rachel), George Bennett (Lois), Chuck Bennett (Polly); brother, Rev. Larry Bennett (Jane); sister, Jean Ham (Carl); six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Everage, Les Richburg, Bill Stone, Hugh Haynes, Keith Snyder and Delaney Kervin.
