In the second game, Troy took on Eufaula, and like the first game, Troy came away victories, this time by a bigger margin, 12-1.
“I thought we played well in both game,” head coach Gary Fox said.
“In the first game, I thought our pitching looked really good. I think our bats were still asleep but we were able to put six runs on the board, which was good enough for the win.”
In the second game however, Fox said he saw a different team in the dug out.
“We had a completely different atmosphere in the second game,” the coach said. “The guys were really fired up and excited to be out there.”
Besides being able to play baseball, Fox said the team had a little more motivation for playing as best as they could.
“We dedicated this season to military and the people fighting for us overseas.
“I told the guys, I know it’s hot out here but think about the men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan right now. They are giving their best for us, so give your best for them,” he said.
Even though the two games may have only been warm up games for the forthcoming summer tournaments, the coach said he expects some special things from this group of baseball players.
“This is really a special group of guys,” he said.
“They are all talented – I have been watching all of them play since Coach Pitch and to have them all on the same time is going to be a lot of fun.
“Now, there are definitely some things we have to work on here and there but this is a group that has a great attitude together and wants to do well,” Fox said. “And I couldn’t ask for anything better.”
