Country music fans are in high spirits as they stop in Troy from all over the United States headed to BamaJam in Enterprise.

“We had a group come through here yesterday that were all the way from Michigan to go to the festival,” said Ruby Garcia, an attendant at the Texaco gas station on Elba Hwy.

With more than 100,000 people in attendance, some of the Jammers make themselves at home here in Troy as they recuperate from all of the excitement in Enterprise.

“We have seen quite a few people make reservations here. In fact, for the next two nights, we’re sold out,” said Dawn Railey, Director of Sales for the Troy Courtyard by Marriott.

“I know that we probably have 20 or 30 rooms here that are directly related to BamaJam reserved for two and three nights.”

Jammers enrich Troy’s economy by stopping by local gas stations and visiting Village Coffee.

Some of the most sold products during this week are beer, cigarettes and ice.

“It’s not the busiest time of year, but it is busier than any normal weekend,” said Kathy Hamilton of Village Spirits and Specialty Wines.

“It’s pretty even between liquor and beer (sales).”

Hamilton said that Village Spirits and Specialty Wines has seen an increase in the traffic of people for the last week and a half while set -up was in preparation.

Troy is anticipating a more enriched economy as BamaJam continues to draw in the crowds.

“I expect that it (Troy’s economy) will grow just because Bama Jam is going to grow,” Railey said.

“People are getting in and out of Enterprise and sometimes people would rather just stay here because the traffic is so congested there.”
