Two Pike County rivals got together on the volleyball court Monday afternoon in Goshen.
While the Eagles’ varsity squad was able to get the better end of Charles Henderson’s team when the two teams met early this month, the Trojans were able to exact a little revenge.
When it was all said and done, CHHS proved to have the better JV team, as the Trojans took down the Eagles in three games, 25-17, 23-25 and 15-10.
“I thought our girls played very well tonight,” CHHS head coach Jennifer Sikes said after the match.
“Everyone got to play, which is always a good thing, but our serving was a little off at times.”
CHHS gave up 10 points on serves during the match.
Leading the way for the Trojans was sophomore Hannah Fountain, who finished with 14 total points, eight of which were aces.
During the first game, Fountain collected five-straight points for her team, while in the second game, the sophomore helped get the Trojans out of an early 4-10 deficit thanks to seven-straight points.
Along with Fountain, fellow sophomore Olivia Hudson also had a strong performance, finishing with 13 points, three of which were kills, and another five coming off aces.
The CHHS JV girls will travel to Enterprise today to take on Dauphin Jr. High, with a match set for 4 p.m. while the Goshen JV team will head to Highland Home.
Both varsity teams will be in action on Thursday, as the Trojans will take on Carroll in Ozark and the Eagles will head to Red Level for a battle with the Tigers.
