Mrs. Geraldine (Gerri) Weeks Smith, age 76 of Florala died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in a Dothan, Alabama hospital.
She was born March 29, 1936 to Christopher Council and Liza Viola Greene Weeks. Geraldine worked as a cook in food services in Las Vegas, Nevada where she met and married her husband Patrick (PT) Smith on February 14, 1972. Nothing was more important to Geraldine as her family. She cherished the times she had with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She relished being “Grandma”. She also loved sewing and especially cooking for her family and friends. Geraldine had a gift for making and creating ceramics. She enjoyed giving these special gifts to the ones she loved. Geraldine was a member of Lockhart Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by father, Chistopher Council Weeks; mother, Liza Viola Weeks; and brother, James Lee Weeks. She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Patrick Smith of Florala, AL, three daughters, Deborah (Debbie) Loyd and husband David Runyon of Troy, AL, Juanita Loyd Taylor of Florala, AL, Tracey Marie Phillips and husband Darrell of Yakima, WA, two sons, Chip Loyd and wife Cheryl of Raliegh, NC, Patrick Troy Smith of Yakima, WA, two sisters, Mary Evelyn Morris of Florala, AL, Gail Wright of Samson, AL, one brother, Harold Weeks of Paxton, FL, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, four beloved dogs who were her babies Sweet Pea, Liza Dene, Cheyene, and Tiny. She had a love for animals and donations in her name can be given to The Humane Society of Pike County, PO Box 296, Troy, AL 36081. Memorial services for Geraldine Weeks Smith was 4PM Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Lockhart Baptist Church with Reverend John Bryan officiating.
