Teams from six different towns were in Goshen for the South Central Youth Football Association’s Super Bowl Saturday.

The Pee Wee division was where the most attention was focused, as the Goshen Pee Wee team was searching for its third straight Super Bowl title and 30th consecutive win.

Prior to the Eagles’ first game of the day, head coach Shea Phillips said the Eagles needed to keep their focus in order to be successful.

“You’ve just got to make sure they stay focused and know that every team is out here to beat you,” Phillips said.

Focus did not seem to be an issue for Goshen, as the Eagles defeated Pleasant Home to win their 29th consecutive game and advance to the championship game. Goshen’s opponent in the championship game was Florala, who defeated Red Level to earn that spot.

Much to the delight of the Eagles and their fans, Goshen defeated Florala 29-14 to bring home a third consecutive title.

For the Goshen players, winning a Super Bowl was something they will be able to treasure.

“I try to tell them all the time that it’s important now, but when they get my age, they’ll be able to look back and remember winning three straight Super Bowls, so it’s a big deal,” Phillips said.
