Three local headliners take to the stage Friday
Sid Phelps remembers his first performance at the Double Branch in Troy.
“I had only played a handful of live shows,” Phelps recalled. “That day my back went out. I had a back brace on, but I didn’t want to back out because it was the first time I had convinced Jamie to book me.”
That was September 2008. This Friday, four years to the month, Phelps is returning the Double Branch stage to celebrate the release of his first CD – “Front Porch Sessions.”
And Phelps won’t be alone. Co-headlining the night will also be The Park Band and Tyler Young.
“Jamie was the first person to have us,” said Tucker Park of the Park Band. “So it’s always nice to play here. The crowd has been good to us.”
“I’m looking forward to it,” Young echoed. “The crowd here loves music and you can play originals all night long if you wanted.”
Double Branch owner Jamie Taylor said that Friday night should be a great opportunity for music lovers to have a night out on the town.
“We’ve got representation of three different styles of music,” Taylor said. “Why would you want to go somewhere else and listen to a DJ when you have that opportunity?”
The first act takes the stage at 9:30 Friday night and Phelps (classic country and rock), Young (country) and The Park Band (Southern rock and blues) will all have CDs available to purchase.
There is a $10 cover charge for the event.
