The Pike County Chamber of Commerce continues its search to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Leigh Anne Windham as Chamber president.

Adam Drinkwater, Chamber board chair, said the board realizes the need to move quickly to fill the leadership position.

“We are continuing discussions with potential candidates as we have since mid-December,” Drinkwater said. “We don’t have a specific list of criteria as far as a job description. We are looking for a person who we feel is right for the job and one who has the right skills to move the Chamber forward.”

Drinkwater said that, while education and experience in the business world will certainly be considered, the Chamber board is looking for a candidate who can “tell Pike County’s story.”

Drinkwater said the diversity of Pike County makes it an attractive place to live, to work and to do business. The new Chamber president will be one who can “tell the story” of Pike County is such a way as to cultivate community pride among its residents and foster growth among its existing businesses and industries.

“The Pike County Chamber of Commerce is actively making moves to grow the membership and to represent all areas of the Pike County community,” Drinkwater said. “We are looking for a president who has leadership abilities and can help us achieve these goals.”

Liz McGrath, Chamber membership director, said the Pike County Chamber of Commerce offers many benefits to its 400-plus members.

“Chamber members can benefit from listing on our directory, website and in our newsletter and take advantage of our bulk mailing,” McGrath said.

“When we have inquiries, we refer our Chamber members and Chambers members are included in our newcomer packets. Members may participate in our annual business expos, networking events and other Chamber sponsored events.”
