U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby will be addressing Pike County residents at Banks Buy-Rite, located at 9440 N. U.S. Highway 29, on Jan. 29.
Shelby will be addressing the legislative agenda for the first session of the 112th Congress, as well as various other important issues that directly, or indirectly, affect the nation and the state of Alabama.
Al Rotton, owner of Banks Buy-Rite, looks forward to the visit from the senator. “I’m excited about the visit from Sen. Shelby,” said Rotton. “I welcome everybody, the more the merrier.”
Rotton said he expects a big turnout.
Shelby has held more than 1,600 county visits since being elected to serve in the state of Alabama. His goal is to hold at meeting in each county every year. After addressing the main issues, Shelby will take questions.
“Over the years, these meetings have provided an excellent opportunity for area residents to listen and voice their opinions on the activities of our government,” said Shelby. “This will be a great chance to discuss the important issues facing our state and our nation.”
The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. that Saturday morning, and is open to the public. Rotton said he encourages residents to come and let their voice be heard.
