After being on the road the past two Fridays, Charles Henderson hopes that some home cooking will be just what the doctor ordered for a 0-2 record.

The lights will be on for the first time this season at Movie Gallery Stadium as the Trojans play host to B. T. Washington, who is coming into the game with a 1-1 record.

The Golden Eagles responded to a loss at Auburn in week one with a 38-0 beat down against Notasulga last week.

The Trojans have dropped its first two ball games to Greenville and Tallassee by a combined score of 59-27.

“We pride ourselves on defense here,” CHHS head coach Hugh Fountain said.

“We have a lot of good athletes on defense, but giving up the amount of points we have given up so far this year has been a real sore spot for us.”

Despite a strong offensive performance from senior quarterback K.D. Edenfield last week against Tallassee, the offense could not get anything going.

Edenfield finished with the game with 321 combined yards, 273 coming through the air while another 48 came on the ground.

He also scored two touchdowns, one passing and one rushing.

“[Tallassee] was a very winnable game for us,” Fountain said.

“I thought we matched up pretty well against them but when it came down to it, we made too many mistakes and it cost us.”

Fountain said that coming off the Tallassee lost, his team responded better than he might have expected.

“I wasn’t sure how are kids were going to react coming into this week.

We had a week where we were coming off a loss and there was a holiday, but everyone had a good morale and I think we had a pretty good week of practice,” he added.

Preparing for B.T. Washington, Fountain said the Golden Eagles could present a few problems for this team.

“They are pretty much going to run straight at you – and [stopping the run] is something that we have had a problem with so far this season.

“They are also a pretty big team, especially up front on both sides of the ball. We are going to see a lot of what we have already seen this season from Greenville and Tallassee, so this is going to be a big test for us to see if we have corrected any of our problems,” Fountain added.

The coach mentioned that there is on thing the team needs to fix as soon as possible.

“Obviously, we need a win immediately,” coach said.

“As far as fixing something with the team, we have got to get a kicking game corrected now.

“It is difficult to win a game without kicking performing well – kicking has a huge influence on both the offense and the defense.”

Even with an 0-2 start, Fountain believes that being able to play in front of Trojans’ home crowd will hopefully result in more wins.

“It’s always good to play in your own stadium,” Fountain said.

This is the start of three consecutive home games for the Trojans, something that Fountain believes will be beneficial for this team.

“This is going to be the time to right the ship. Hopefully we will be to take advantage of this opportunity.”

The Trojans and the Golden Eagles will meet under the lights at 7 p.m.
