Not many people get a special delivery letter from Santa Claus. However, because the children who visited with Santa last Christmas at the Troy Public Library were so sweet and good, Santa sent a special delivery letter to Teresa Colvin, children’s librarian.

“Santa told me that he is going to take time from his very busy schedule to come to Troy again,” Colvin said. “We are so excited and can hardly wait for him to get here.”

Santa Claus will be at the Troy Public Library at 6 p.m. Tuesday night to hear the Christmas wishes of boys and girls who have been good this year.

“Santa said he has checked his list and there are a lot of good boys and girls here. So, we are expecting a lot of children to come visit with Santa,” Colvin said.

A fun night is planned for the children who are on Santa’s list.

“Santa always likes to visit with the youngest children first because he knows they have early bedtimes,” Colvin said. “While waiting for that special visit with Santa, the children will have an opportunity to make a Christmas craft item to take home as a Christmas memory. And, the children can listen to Christmas stories being read.”

Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras to take photos of their children with Santa and as they enjoy the other activities of this special night at Christmastime.

Colvin said that Santa has made plans to be at the Troy Public Library Tuesday night until every child has had a chance to whisper wishes to him.

“Sometimes children worry that they won’t get to see Santa,” she said. “But Santa will be here until the last child gets to sit on Santa’s lap.

“We also encourage the parents to make the Troy Public Library a part of their Christmas plans. We have a large selection of Christmas books to read with the children and for the children to read themselves. We also have Christmas selections for adults and, as always, a large selection of ‘Best Sellers.’ And, we have some really great cookbooks for this season of the year.”

The library will be closed Tuesday night except for Christmas Stories with Santa. But everyone is invited to visit the library during regular hours.

“The library is a wonderful place to spend time during Christmas and all seasons,” Colvin said.
