After getting its season off on the wrong foot with a loss to Dothan last Thursday, the Charles Henderson volleyball team has bounced back in a big way, winning its last three matches to move to 3-1.

The latest victory for the Trojans came Tuesday, when CHHS came from being one game behind against Northview to win the final three games in row and take the 3-1 win.

The scores of the match were 16-25, 25-22, 25-14 and 25-20.

The Trojans trailed 19-16 in the second game, but were able to bounce back and close the game on a 9-3 run.

In both the second and the third games, the Northview squad became increasingly frustrated by the calls of the officials in attendance.

The Trojans used it to their advantage, however.

Troy scored the final 13 points of the third game to take a 2-1 lead.

CHHS then finished off the Cougars with a 25-20 win in the third game.

Head coach Jennifer Sikes said the team’s momentum from Monday’s wins over Eufaula and Barbour County was instrumental in the win over Northview Tuesday.

“We’re playing like winners,” Sikes said.

“They’ve got the taste of winning, and they like it.”

The wins over Eufaula and Barbour County came as part of a tri-match Monday.

The Trojans defeated the Jaguars of Barbour County first, sweeping them 25-20 and 26-24.

The win over Eufaula was also a come-from behind-win, as CHHS won 2-1 by the scores of 23-25, 25-18 and 16-14.

“They’ve played pretty flawless ball,” Sikes said.

“They’ve worked together and played as a team. They’re excited.”

“ The win yesterday felt good to them. It’s the first time since I’ve been here that we’ve beat Eufaula. Everything just went our way.”

Sikes said she had initially been concerned about playing the area game so early in the season.

“Playing the area early, I was really questioning that, but that’s just how the dates fell,” Sikes said.

“I think we’re glad we played it now because we’ve got a 1-0 in the area.”

The junior varsity team was in action Tuesday against Northview as well, winning 25-14 and 25-15.

Charles Henderson returns to action against Ariton Thursday at 4 p.m.
