It has been a busy last couple of days for the Patriots of Pike Liberal Arts.
Over the weekend, the team traveled three hours north to Tuscaloosa to take part in the Tuscaloosa Academy Tournament.
There, PLAS would suffer defeat for the first time in over a month, but also find a way to get back on track.
It was an uneventful first day for the Patriots on Friday, as both Tuscaloosa Academy and Monroe Academy handed PLAS losses, both of which were come from behind wins.
The team playing host won 14-10, while Monroe won 8-5.
On Saturday, the team took out its frustration, by beating both Bessemer and Corner Stone by the scores of 8-1 and 10-0.
In the two losses, the Patriots committed 12 errors.
Chandler Avant led the way for his team, going 10-for-19 at the plate with a home run and a triple, while Sam Carroll and Nick McLaughlin finished 6-for-13 and 5-for-13 with a home run and combined for three doubles.
On Monday, the Patriots continued their winnings ways, taking down Northside Methodist in Dothan, 10-1. Dustin Newman pitched a complete game, going seven innings, giving up six hits and one run.
Newman threw just 68 pitches.
Robert Benton went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a triple, while Avant went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs.
The Patriots will be in area action today, taking on Macon-East on the road.
