For the love of EBJ

The purple and gold colors that are usually prevalent at the Goshen schools gave way to pink and green on Wednesday as the students and faculty members expressed their love and caring for little EB Johnson and her family.
Students and teachers at Goshen Elementary and Goshen High School donned the “I Love EB” t-shirts as a way of letting EB’s family know that their thoughts are prayers are with EB as she continues her battle with cancer.
The idea for t-shirt day for EB originated with the Goshen High School softball team and quickly became a “community thing,” said Dee Hughes, GHS softball coach.
“Amy (Warrick) is at the elementary school and she took the idea there and it caught on,” Hughes said. “We have a lot of people wearing the pink t-shirts today and it’s all for EB and her family. EB’s mom, Marla, told us that pink and green are EB’s favorite colors. And, we picked up the design from the ‘Love You, EBJ’ signs that are up all over the county.”
Hughes said several of the girls on the Lady Eagles softball team are enrolled in the agriculture academy at Goshen High School where EB’s mom teaches. A couple of softball team members have been babysitters for EB.
“Marla is a great supporter of our girl’s sports programs and the girls would carry EB around when they were at the games,” Hughes said. “There’s a real strong bond between EB and her family and our students. We just wanted to do something to let them know that we are thinking of them and that we care.”
The funds raised from the sale of the t-shirts will be donated to the Johnson family to be used as needed. The t-shirts are $10 each and may be purchased at the Goshen schools.
