CHHS boy’s tennis team claims 5A sectionals

The Jimmy Lunsford Tennis Complex was the site for the 2011 high school tennis 5A Sectionals this week, and with it, the site of the victorious Charles Henderson team.
Thursday afternoon was the boy’s team took to the court, and in it was all said and done, they were the last team standing.
Thanks to a combined 46 points of the singles and doubles competitions, the Trojan tennis team finished 20 points ahead of the second place qualifier in Carroll High School.
Clay Berry, Patrick Jackson, Jonathan Carswell and Robert Lee all won their singles brackets, respectively, as the top four singles brackets went to Charles Henderson.
In doubles play, the combination of Jackson and Berry was good enough to claim the No. 1 seed double bracket while duo of Quay Austin and Carswell clinched the No. 3 seed bracket.
On Tuesday afternoon, the girls took to the court.
While the team did not have the kind of finish the boy’s team had later on in the week, the girl’s were able to win the No. 3 seed doubles bracket.
Overall, the girl’s team placed fourth on the day, with Valley winning the sectional with a combined score of 51 points.
