Troy released its 2013 baseball schedule. There are some very interesting matchups including home series with Southern Miss, South Alabama, Middle Tennessee State and FIU. Stand out home midweek games include UAB, Auburn and Jacksonville State. Notice Auburn is back on the schedule. Last season, head coach Bobby Pierce didn’t think Auburn would agree to continue the in-state rivalry.
I talked to Pierce a week or so ago and he said Auburn rethought the decision not to play and changed their mind. Also, the Alabama-Troy game in Pensacola obviously didn’t work out. Pierce said he was approached by the folks in Florida about the game, but the decision was Alabama’s because it was their home game that would be played at the new Double-AA Blue Wahoos stadium.
