Maestri closing in on win No. 500

Troy head coach Don Maestri is creeping closer to career win No. 500. Currently, he sits at 497 career victories.
In his 31st season, Maestri has collected numerous milestone victories. Here are a few:
1 – vs. Flager 89-73 Nov. 29, 1982
100 – vs. Montevallo 77-76 Dec. 1, 1988
200 – at Alabama-Huntsville 120-93 Feb. 6, 1993
300 – vs. Campbell 89-71 Jan. 18, 2001
400 – vs. Louisiana-Lafayette 73-50 Jan. 14, 2006
The 2002-2003 season was one to be remembered as the Trojans finished 26-6 including a 77-62 win over Arkansas on the road. That year, Troy also finished 14-2 in Atlantic Sun play earned the league’s berth to the NCAA tournament where the Trojans fell to Xavier.
Maestri has won more games at an Alabama college than any other all-time. He is behind only Jim Boeheim (Syracuse), Dave Bike (Sacred Heart) and Mike Krzyzewski (Duke) as the nation’s longest tenured head coach.
