Charles Henderson picks up four wins in FCA Jason Armstrong Baseball Classic

The Charles Henderson Trojans continued their early-season winning ways by making a clean sweep of opponents in the FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Baseball Classic in Montgomery over the weekend.
The Trojans blasted LAMP 12-0 Saturday afternoon, and finished of the tourney with a 6-3 over Providence Christian in the night cap.
The wins upped Charles Henderson’s record to 12-1, and protected the No. 1 ranking by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. Charles Henderson hosts traditional 5A powerhouse Rehobeth on Tuesday at 4:30 at Frazier Field.

The Trojan version of Murder’s Row led the team a dominant win over LAMP in game three of the tournament. Tripp Blackmon, Chase Smartt, Joey Denison and Austin Ingram combined for five hits and four RBIs in the blowout win. Xavius Burden also had a big day at the plate, going 2-4 with a three-RBI double late in the game to ice the win.

Providence Christian didn’t get the win, but was able to muster the first runs in over 28 innings against Charles Henderson.
The Trojans went back to what brought them to the dance, pitching and defense. Charles Henderson pitchers Brantley LeCroy, Burden and Ingram combined to limit the powerful Eagles to just seven hits and three runs.
At the plate, the Trojans were once again led by Denison.
The senior first baseman finished the day 3-4, including a big go-ahead double to left center in the third inning to break the 1-1 tie.
Providence attempted a late rally, but was shut down by Ingram in the final inning.
