Congratulations to Tammy Powell.
After a career of dedicated service, she was inducted in the Alabama 4-H Wall of Fame earlier this week, joining more than 130 others who have earned this high honor.
As one friend on hand commented, “there is no way to tell the impact that Tammy has had on the lives of the young people of Pike County.”
The children in her programs were nurtured and coached, developed and taught over hundreds or even thousands of hours spent under Powell’s watchful eye. From steer shows to speech presentations, Powell used the varied 4-H activities to help instill confidence and skills in her youngsters, as well as teach them valuable life lessons that would serve them well into adulthood. She embraced the 4-H motto of making “the best better” and even in retirement continues to lead by her example of faith and civic responsibility.
So kudos and thanks to Tammy Powell, once again, for generously investing so much of her heart into the 4-H program and Pike County’s youngsters for so many years.
While we know she’s not one to seek out honors or accolades, we agree this recognition on the Wall of Fame is a well-deserved honor for her years of tireless leadership and selfless effort.
