Fred’s Pharmacy opened Friday in the former Price Pharmacy building on South Main Street in Brundidge.
Josh Russell, fred’s Pharmacy marketing manager, said Kay Seay, who owned Price Pharmacy, will be the pharmacist at Fred’s along with Carol Huett.
The services fred’s Pharmacy offers will be the same as the pharmaceutical services offered by Price Pharmacy with the addition of special medications that treat specific diseases, he said.
“Fred’s Pharmacy has a Mobile app where medications can be managed while on the go,” Russell said. “Fred’s also offers on-line management of prescriptions and pet prescriptions online through our website.”
Fred’s Pharmacy will also offer immunizations, including flu shots.
Russell said that he has no knowledge as to whether patients will be able to charge their medications, as was a service of Price Pharmacy.
“But some of our pharmacies do offer that service,” he said.
Hours for fred’s Pharmacy will be 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday. The pharmacy will be closed on Sunday.
Russell did confirm that fred’s is in the process of purchasing Hawkins Drug, also a Brundidge Main Street business. However, he said that he is not sure of any plans by fred’s to purchase other property in the downtown area and could not comment on that.
According to the fred’s website, the first fred’s Pharmacy opened in 1978 and, since that time, fred’s has continued to grow within the pharmacy industry. Fred’s has experienced accelerated growth in the pharmacy division through pharmacy acquisitions and new pharmacy openings.
