The goal is within reach.

“That last $25,000, we do not know where that is coming from, but we have faith we are going to find it,” said Dan Smith, Troy’s Parks and Recreation director.

Smith and a group of dedicated community members have been working hard to secure funds for a new playground in Troy – one that would be accessible to all of Pike County’s children.

Organizers hope the Miracle League Playground will be open sometime in June, and although the community and local government have raised and pledged almost $175,000, there is still money to be raised before the playground can be built.

That’s why CGI chose to highlight the playground project during April’s Business After Hours, sponsored by GGI and the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.

“The real goal was an opportunity to speak to you about the Miracle League Playground,” said CGI Director George Tarbox to the couple dozen people who attended. “If you have acquaintances or business you have contacts at, please encourage them to contribute. This is just a wonderful opportunity for Troy and Pike County.”

The Miracle League Playground will be wheelchair accessible and provide enrichment for children with special needs, allowing a place for all children to play side by side.

“What we can do now is generate awareness in the community,” Smith said to those at the event. “We are going to reach our goal and we appreciate what everybody has already done.”
