Troy junior Danny Collins was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 13th round (389th pick) of the MLB First-Year Player Draft on Saturday.
Collins, who has already graduated, has a year of eligibility remaining but head coach Bobby Pierce says he is unsure which direction Collins will go.
“That’s something we’ll have to sit down and talk about. In all likelihood, he won’t stay. Our thoughts right now are with him and we’re all happy for him,” Pierce said. “He has had a really good college career with us and is very deserving.”
This season, Collins batted .363 with 11 home runs and a team-high 67 RBIs.
