While an official fireworks show was postponed due to rain, Troy residents were still busy with launching fireworks of their own.
According to Troy Police Department spokesperson Lt. Bryan Weed, officers responded to 28 calls about fireworks between about 3 p.m. and midnight.
“It was just a normal Fourth of July,” Weed said. “People were just shooting fireworks between rain showers.”
No citations were issued, and no major incidents were reported, according to Weed.
Fireworks are illegal to use within Troy city limits. According to Weed, when the department receives a complaint about fireworks, an officer will be sent to make contact with the person and inform them of the law.
