The onslaught known as the Troy Belles Tournament team continued its rampage Saturday night with a 9-0 victory over South Dale at the Troy Sportsplex.
The key to Troy’s 24-0 win Friday and 9-0 victory Saturday that put the team in the sub-district championship game has been pitching. Troy has allowed three hits on the mound and compiled 22 strikeouts in 11 innings of work.
“Becca (Hartley) started for us and was very dominant out there today,” Troy head coach Steve Finlayson said. “And with the exception of a few slip ups on defense we have played solid defense.”
Finlayson said even though the team has scored 33 runs in two games the defense has been the strong point of the squad.
“We are keeping teams full of other city’s all-stars off the bases and that is just great,” he said.
Hartley allowed zero runs and zero hits with seven strikeouts in three innings of work Saturday. Stephanie Finlayson pitched three innings and allowed zero runs, two hits and struck out four batters.
Hannah Fountain closed the game out on the mound and struck out one while not allowing a hit or run.
At the plate, Hartley was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Finlayson was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Alli Ellis, Brooke Hudson, Mary-Michael Dunn and Fountain each had one hit.
Troy scored two runs in the first, one in the second and six in the third for the 9-0 win.
Troy will play in the championship game Tuesday at 6 p.m. with the if necessary game at 8 p.m. They will face the winner of the Eufaula-South Dale loser’s bracket championship game that will be played Monday at 6 p.m.
