Troy quarterback Corey Robinson entered the 2013 season as one of college football’s most prolific passers, but had never had a day like Saturday.

In Troy’s 34-31 win over UAB, Robinson completed 30-of-32 passes for 319 yards and one touchdown. Robinson’s mark broke the 18-year-old record for completion percentage in a game, previously held by then BYU quarterback, and current Washington head coach, Steve Sarkisian.

Robinson started the game with a 52-yard strike to Deon Anthony, and following an incompletion on his next attempt, found the target on his next 20 consecutive passes. The 20 straight completions tied the school record, which was held by Trojan legend Sim Byrd.

During his senior season as Lone Oak High School in Paddock, Kentucky, Robinson set a national record for touchdown passes in a season with 91.

Also during that season, Robinson completed 383 of 520 passes for a completion percentage of 73.7.

The senior signal caller said the same feelings of confidence and security he had during his high school days came back during Saturday’s performance.

“When you get in to a groove like that, it is more of a calm collective feeling,” Robinson said. “You aren’t hearing as much from the crowd, and it is more of a in-the-zone type of situation. I was able to pull it down a couple of times when I made a bad read on the pre-snap, and was able to make a couple plays on the scramble.”

Robinson’s performance drew praise from offensive coordinator Kenny Edenfield as well.

“His decision making was excellent,” said Edenfield. “Corey threw the ball extremely well. He should of really been 32-for-32, but we had a couple of drops.”

Despite the big day, Robinson says that he strives for even more.

“I will go out there and try to be 100 percent,” Robinson said. “That is what I strive for every week. I try to get in my guy’s hands and let them make the plays for me. We can not overlook this game.”
