A familiar face throughout the Troy City Schools system has been hired as the superintendent of Elba City Schools.
The Elba City Schools Board of Education met Tuesday night and hired Chresal Threadgill, current administrative assistant to the superintendent of Troy City Schools. Threadgill acted as the director of curriculum, instruction and assessment for the school system.
The BOE met last week to discuss the interview process for the top five candidates for the position, including Threadgill.
Chresal Threadgill has held his current position for three years. Prior to that, Threadgill was principal of Charles Henderson Middle School, vice principal of Charles Henderson Middle School and assistant principal of Greenville Middle School.
The BOE expects to discuss Threadgill’s contract at its next meeting on Sept. 17.
Former Elba Schools Superintendent Rick Rainer tendered his resignation in late June in order to take a position as principal of Auburn High School.
The other top four educators in the running for Elba City Schools superintendent were Dr. Patrick Cain of Enterprise, the principal of Dale County High School; Dr. Sherene Carpenter, coordinator of attendance with Birmingham City Schools; Dr. Rhinnie Scott of Sawyerville, principal and director with the Career Technical Education program of Greene County; and Todd Wingard of Rockford, middle school principal in Coosa County.
