Pike Liberal Arts offensive lineman Tucker Floyd got the nod as one of the best AISA football players in the state Monday afternoon.

Floyd was selected to take part in the annual AISA All-Star Game, and was the lone Patriot selected.

Floyd said being selected is a great honor.

“It means a lot to me personally,” Floyd said. “To know that not only Coach Allen, but other coaches think I am deserving of this is truly an honor.”

Floyd starred for the Patriots on the offensive and defensive line over the last three seasons, and has donned red, white and blue every football season since the third grade.

Being the only Pike player on the All-State teams, Floyd has taken it on his self to ‘show out’ for the Pats.

“We had some injuries to some other seniors this season,” Floyd said. “If not for that, there would be more than just me on the list from Pike. I want to show the rest of the guys from across the state that Pike Lib is for real. Our record was great, but we have great athletes here.”

The Patriots finished 2-8 during Floyd’s senior season, the first under head coach Gene Allen.

Allen feels Floyd is more than deserving of the All-State nod.

“Tucker is a leader on this team,” Allen said. “He played both ways for us, and always did a good job. I am proud for him. He deserves to be recognized for the player, and athlete he is.”

The game is more than likely the final time Floyd will ever suit up in a football uniform, something he is thankful for.

“I know that ball game will be it for me as a football player,” Floyd said. “I have one more time to play the game love, and I will relish it. I will be sure to enjoy it, because when that game is over, my career is as well.”

The Alabama Independent Schools Association All-Star Football game will be played December 6 at historic Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
