In less than a week, the Troy Trojans senior class will take Larry Blakeney Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium for the final time in their career.

The Trojans will have big shoes to fill next season with the losses of players like quarterback Corey Robinson, wide receiver Eric Thomas and kicker Will Scott who all are record setting players.

This season, Robinson set the Sun Belt Conference records for passing yards, pass attempts, completions, offensive yards and touchdown passes, but his accolades aren’t limited to the league.

He became only the fourth quarterback in NCAA history to have four 3,000-yard seasons in a career.

This year Robinson also became record holder for highest completion percentage in NCAA history completing 93.8 percent of his passes against UAB in the season opener.

“I came here a long time ago and it seems like I’ve been playing here forever,” Robinson said. “I want to thank coach Blakeney, first and foremost, for giving me my opportunity to play Division-1 college football.”

Thomas will leave the Trojans as the Sun Belt Conference’s record holder for the most touchdown receptions in a career with 28 touchdowns and one more regular season game to add to that total.

“Time flies, you know. It feels like I just got here,” Thomas said. “Now it’s coming up on my last game.”

“Both of them [Robinson and Thomas] have been great contributors on the field as players,” Blakeney said. “As they’ve grown older, they’ve become established leaders in this program.”

Scott holds the Troy record for the longest field goal after a 53-yarder against Louisiana-Lafayette, besting his previous Troy record 52-yarder he hit against Florida Atlantic in 2012.

For the seniors, Friday’s finale against Texas State will be bittersweet but don’t look for many tears to be shed.

“Since it’s my last time playing in this stadium and…playing here in Troy, it’s gonna be a little emotional for us seniors,” Thomas said.

“If I’m crying, it’s because this last four years has been a long last four years,” Robinson said.

“I don’t know about crying, but the last game in front of the home fans and everything; the last time my mom and dad will get to watch me play here, that’s a pretty big deal,” Scott said. “It could be my last football game ever so we’ve got to make the most of it and get a win.”

The senior class that has been at Troy over the last four years currently has a 21-27 record and will look to add one more victory when they take the field on Friday against Texas State.

Though the good times on the field may be nearing an end, Robinson says the experience has been unforgettable.

“As far as my career, I’ve had a great time here at Troy and I really appreciate everybody that’s taken me in as a part of the Trojan family,” Robinson said. “I’ll never forget it.”
