The Pike County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Troy will host the Downtown Troy Tailgate on the Square from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday and the public is invited.
“This is the final tailgate party in the 2013 Downtown Troy Tailgate on the Square series and we expect to have a large crowd in support of Troy University’s last game vs. the Texas State Bobcats,” said Kathy Sauer, Chamber president.
Sauer said that the Downtown Troy Tailgate is also a good time to show our support for the Charles Henderson High School Trojans as they face the UMS Wright Bulldogs of Mobile in the semi finals of the Alabama High School Association State 4-A football playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday night.
Merchants around the square will have specials for the day so, Sauer said Friday will be a good time to shop downtown Troy.
Sauer said a morning of entertainment has been planned with the Jim Bell Trio.
“The Jim Bell Trio is very popular and not just around Pike County,” she said. “They will play a selection of Christmas favorites as well as jazz selections. If you like good music, then the Downtown Troy Tailgate of the Square is the place to be Friday.”
All Trojan fans – city, county and those from afar – are encouraged to pack a picnic or pick up a carry-out from their favorite restaurant and show their support for the Trojans while enjoying good music and the fellowship of friends and neighbors in downtown Troy.
