Mrs. Clara “Tat” Gibson Jones, age 80, of Ariton, died early Tuesday, December 17, 2013, in Flowers Hospital
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with her grandson-in-law, Reverend Ross Kilpatrick, officiating. Interment will follow in Ariton Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until service time.
Mrs. Jones was born April 6, 1933 in Coffee County to the late William Howard Gibson and Innis Pearl Kyser Gibson. She and her late husband, Jack Edwin Jones, Sr., owned and operated Jones Meat Market in Ariton until its closing in 2005. She was a member of Ariton Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by two brothers, Tim Gibson and Wendol Gibson.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Eddie Wright of Ozark; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Lynn Jones, Dr. Jack and Brenda Jones all of Ariton; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Snellgrove and her husband Josh, Dr. Daniel Jones, Amy Kilpatrick and her husband Ross, Clint Jones, Claire Flowers and her husband Chase, Haley Liddon and her husband William, and Hays Wright; seven great grandchildren, Trevor Snellgrove, Ellie Kate, Emmett and Jack Kilpatrick, Anna and Caroline Liddon, and M. J. Flowers; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Faye and Lane Heartsill of Montgomery, Gayla Kinney of Troy; three sisters-in-law, Doris Richardson, Martha Simmons, and Janice Gibson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
